Medeiros Crew Recycling will once again be holding appliance, Freon, CRT and electronics recycling drives. The first recycling event is Saturday, November 16th from 9 to 1 at the Spence Farm property located at 41 Wyman Street in Woburn.

Identity Theft can be prevented

Mayor Scott Galvin, the Woburn Agriculture Commission and the local office of Shred It are hosting a free event to help local residents fight back by properly disposing of outdated personal and financial documents. Woburn residents are encouraged to bring all of their outdated papers and documents sitting in boxes around the house to Woburn's Spence Farm, 41 Wyman Street on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Disposal is free of charge to Woburn residents.

Shred-it specializes in providing a tailored document destruction service that allows businesses to comply with legislation and ensure that the client, employee and confidential business information is kept secure at all times.

“It’s more important than ever to protect our personal information as a way of fighting back against identity theft,” said Mayor Galvin. “This event delivers residents an easy way to identify and properly dispose of outdated personal information that could leave them exposed if it landed in the wrong hands.”

As in years’ past, Oktoberfest is a family-friendly event and there is no admission charge.  There will be plenty of Oktoberfest-themed food and beverage for sale at a reasonable cost.  Offerings include bratwurst, sauerkraut, pretzels, hamburgers, hot dogs, a variety of pastry, coffee, water, soft drinks, and of course beer!

Appliances

Wondering what to do with that old television, computer monitor or appliance that is broken, unwanted or unused and just taking up space?

The Medeiros Crew is working with a Massachusetts company that will collect these items at drop off sites set up throughout Woburn at various times throughout the year.

This is an excellent opportunity to recycle these items at a minimal cost compared to the higher cost associated with curbside appliance recycling programs and will also be a fundraiser for local organizations that will sponsor these events. Another good thing and possibly the best part of this program is that it is open to residents from any and all communities, not just Woburn, as well as any and all business entities. With your help these collections have raised over $125,000 dollars for local Woburn organizations with a portion always going to the Woburn Highscool Scholarship.
