Council of Social Concern: Neighbors Helping Neighbors since 1969

The Food Pantry run by the Council of Social Concern in Woburn is in need of a few good volunteers!

If you or someone you know has availability in the mornings or evenings during the week, please consider donating your time to help our friends at the Council who do some much great work in the community!

Horn Pond Summer Concert Series Flyer

We regretfully have to annouce that we are postponing tonight's installment of the Horn Pond Summer Concert Series due to a 50% chance of thunderstorms throughout the late afternoon. While the odds are even that the current weather will hold, any potential danger or destruction of the band's electrical equipment due to thunderstorms is a chance we cannot take.

Although the concert will not be happening tonight, you will still get a chance to see the wonderful Katrina Marie Band on the planned rain date of Friday, August 23rd! Also, don't forget to join us in two weeks on July 26th when Thom MacSmitty will grace the stage for our next concert!

Outdoor Movie Series at Library Park

Tuesday evenings beginning on July 16th and running through August 13th, the Woburn Recreation Department invites residents and familys to attend free outdoor movie screenings! The 5-week series has a great line-up of family-friendly flicks to watch, and screenings begin as soon as it’s dark enough to view the screen. Check out the SCI Community Calendar to see what films will be showing!

Cartoon Girl Running

Woburn Recreation Department's annual summer Fun Runs are back this week! This FREE family friendly Woburn tradition will be weekly on Thursday evenings beginning on July 11th and ending August 8th. Details on the Fun Runs are below:

Hi, I'm Phil Gordon and I have been an SCI AmeriCorps member serving at the James L. McKeown Boys and Girls Club of Woburn since February. I will be sending out the Week in Woburn newsletter for he next couple of months as I complete my AmeriCorps service requirements. As a born & bred Woburnite, it's been exciting or me to be able to give back to my community through the Social Capital Inc platform and I'm happy to now be able to work more directly with the SCI team. I'm also looking forward to meeting some of you, our readers and community supporters, in the near future!

Relay for Life Logo

At Relay For Life events, no one faces cancer alone. People come together every year at more than 2,500 Relay events around the country to support and celebrate survivors and caregivers.

Each Relay has special events and activities (many throughout the year) just for survivors and their caregivers, so they can connect with others and know there is a strong support system available to them.
