WOBURN, MA, June 1, 2009— On September 27, an open house featuring a Victorian-style tea will be held at the Federal-style Tidd house, the oldest part of which was built in 1809.
The Tidd Home, a unique residence for senior men and women, has been selected by Social Capital Inc. Woburn as one of eight homes to be showcased as part of SCI Woburn’s fifth bi-annual Woburn Holiday House Tour.The tour typically draws over 150 visitors to homes gaily decorated for the holiday season.
This year’s tour will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, December 7th, and will feature eight of Woburn’s most interesting and best-decorated homes, including the Tidd Home, built nearly 200 years ago in 1809.

WOBURN, MA, Wednesday, September 3, 2008—The Tidd Home, a unique residence for senior women for 120 years, announced today that, starting in September, it will open its doors to male residents. As it has for 120 years, The Tidd Home provides safe and affordable housing for seniors, allowing them to continue to lead independent, fulfilled lives.
The Tidd Home, with 14 residential suites and gracious areas for dining, setting, is located at 74 Elm St. in Woburn. The home was incorporated in 1887. Initial quarters for the home were on Mt. Pleasant Street, but William Tidd donated the Tidd Homestead in 1889. The building was dedicated in October of 1889 and has been in use ever since.

As part of the more than $1.5 million in improvements and additions to the historic structure completed in the past year, the Tidd Home has recently launched a new Web site—www.tiddhome.org.
A new 20-minute documentary on the Tidd Home and its place in the history of Woburn is currently airing on Woburn Public Access television channels 3 and 13 on RCN, and channels 9 and 10 on Comcast.
