SCI and the YMCA International Learning Center would like to say a HUGE thank you to all of the performers, vendors, organizations, volunteers and members of the community who came out on Sunday to celebrate cultures from around the world! Without you all, WorldFest 2017 would not have been such a resounding success and we very much appreciate all of your hard work. The WorldFest 2017 album, with lots of great photos, will be coming soon to our Facebook page.

On Saturday, June 3 from 5-11pm, the St. Anthony Church in North Woburn will be hosting its annual festival in honor of the patron Saint Anthony. It will be held at the grounds of the church at 851 Main St., Woburn MA. Mass will take place at 4pm, followed by the festival beginning at 5pm.

The festival will feature the Soul Shakers Band, music by DJ Master Scratch, amusements, food, beer & wine, children's games and lots of chances to win great prizes! This year's Memorial Day Ceremony will begin on Monday, May 29 at the First Burial Ground on Park Street at 8am. There will first be a Call to Order led by Mayor Scott Galvin, Cemetery Commission Chair John Sawyer and Woburn Historical Society co-founder Kathy Lucero, followed by a re-dedication ceremony starting at 8:15am.

Mayor Galvin invites all citizens to join the city for this special dedication, honoring the memory of U.S. soldiers who have fought and died while in military service.

WorldFest is coming back to Woburn on Sunday, May 21 from 1-5pm at Library Field, 63 Harrison Ave.! We are more than excited to announce the amazing performance line-up for this year's festival:

Greg Coles African Dance and Drum - 1:40-1:55 
Upasana Classical Indian Dance - 2:00-2:15
Ku's TaeKwonDo Academy - 2:20-2:35
25 minute intermission
Os Forrozeiros Dance Group - 3:00-3:15
Move & Inspire Japanese Hip-Hop - 3:20-3:35
Daoist Gate Wudang Arts Tai Chi - 3:40-3:55
Johara and Snake Dance Theater Company - 4:00-4:15 

We invite all ethnicities and cultures to come together on Library Field to celebrate the diverse heritages that make up our communities! Please note that this is a FREE family event but food and craft vendors will charge for purchases. In the event of rain, our rain location will be at Kennedy Middle School, 41 Middle Street, Woburn MA.
 

False News program flyer

The Woburn Public Library, in collaboration with Woburn Public Schools, will be hosting a False News program featuring Merrimack College Communications Studies professor, Dr. Melissa Zimdars. The event will take place on Thursday, May 11 from 7-8pm at Woburn Memorial High School. Dr. Zimdars has recently received national recognition for creating a list of "false and misleading" news sources. She helps audience members recognize fact from fiction through an engaging discussion and Q&A session.
