Woburn Senior Center Hosts Ice Cream Social

Tickets are on sale at $1 each for an ice cream social scheduled for Thursday, August 6^th at the Woburn Senior Center, 144 School Street.  Entertainment begins at 1pm featuring singer Greg Curtis, sponsored by the Cultural Council.  Ice cream sundaes will follow at 2pm and the event will conclude with a door prize drawing.  The Woburn Senior Center is fully air conditioned and handicap accessible.  For transportation information contact 781-897-5964.  Tickets to the event may be obtained at the reception desk at the Woburn Senior Center or phone 781-897-5960 for further information.

Woburn's Seventh Aunnual Native American Pow Wow

On August 1st and 2nd WREN(Woburn Residents Environmental Network) will be presenting Woburn's seventh annual Native American Pow Wow.  The public is welcome to attend this free event from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on both days.  Traditonal displays of Native American Clulture will be showcased through out the day.   The Pow Wow takes place at the Altavesta School which is located at 900 Main Street in Woburn.

Irish Folk Band The McTaggerts a Crowd Favorite

A lucky crowd got quite a show last Friday night with the third Jack Marlowe Park Concert performer The McTaggerts. The concert, sponsored by Dunkin Donuts of Woburn Center, drew a crowd of over 150 music enthusiasts to hear classic Irish Folk Music songs be performed.

The weather held off for The McTaggerts turning last Friday nights performance into a crowd favorite.  With requests being made right and left by members of the audience both young and old the concert quickly turned into a success.  Members of the community quickly became involved in the concert with many different sing along songs and lively tunes that made you want to get up and dance.

Movie of the Week at the Woburn Senior Center-"Fly Away Home"

The "Movie of the week" program takes place, at the Woburn Senior Center, located at 144 School Street, on Mondays at 10:00am and at 1:30pm and also on Fridays at 10:00am.  This week the movie of the week will be "Fly Away Home.  For further information contact Judy Tanner at 781-897-5963.

SCI Presents The Jack Marlowe Park Summer Concert Series

This week the band The McTeggart's will be performing.  The McTaggerts's performances are high-energy exuberant fun, with such classiscs as Danny Boy, Dublin in the Rare Old Times, and many more.  The McTeggart's are Jimmy Byrne and Mike O'Brien.  The concert takes place on Friday July 24th from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm and is held in Woburn Center.  For more information about The McTeggart's you can check out their website www.themcteggarts.com.  This concert has been generously sponsored by Dunkin Donuts in Woburn Center.

Apollo 11 Revisited

Interested in learning about the Moon Landing? Want to know more about the work of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin? Then come out to the Woburn Public Library tonight, July 16th at 7:00 pm, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first men on the moon. This presentation is presented by Jim Zebrowski of the  Aldrich Astronomical Society. Neighborhood Day Update

SCI is not planning to organize local Neighborhood Day projects in September.  That timing is problematic for us internally, as it's when our new AmeriCorps team is just starting, not to mention it also being back-to-school time.  Instead, we’ll work on Neighborhood Day or similar activities for the spring, and connect this event to the leadership training we are planning to offer.  Please contact Karen Rice at krice@socialcapitalinc.or
