Katrina Marie Band

The Katrina Marie Band will be performing at the next Horn Pond Summer Concert, scheduled for Friday, July 13. The concert will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in Ice House Park, the flat grassy area that runs alongside Sturgis Street. This concert is sponsored by Waterfield Sotheby's International Realty.

Baseball Before the Civil War

The Woburn Public Library has an event approaching on July 20 titled Baseball Before the Civil War. Here’s a bit about the program from their website: “Ready to blow up the myths about the founding of America’s national pastime? Legend credits Abner Doubleday as being the “Father of Baseball” but the historical evidence says otherwise. Come hear scholar Aaron Krerowicz tell us why the legend is wrong in this presentation that traces the origins and early development of baseball. Doors open at 6:45.


Woburn public schools will be hosting back to school nights in September with dates and times as follows:

 
Elementary school Back to School Night -- 9/13 - 6-8pm
Middle school Back to School Night -- 9/14 - 6-8pm
High school Back to School Night -- 9/19 - 6:30-8:30pm
 
Additionally, SCI will be working with the Woburn Public Schools and community partners to host a "Welcome Night" at the high school on September 26th for families new to the Woburn community. Details to follow soon.

The vigil is in cooperation with the Mayor's Coalition Against Substance Abuse.

Book stacks

The Woburn Public Library is collecting donations for the upcoming book sale. If you'd like to donate, bring your books to the library at 36 Cummings Park starting September 5th. Acceptable items include books, audiobooks and DVDs.

Food Pantry

The food pantry shelves are bare. Any items you can bring to help the food pantry are much appreciated. It does not have to be the weekly suggested item. Any suitable, non - expired, food/drink items are welcome.

Kids playing at a past Mayor's Field Day
Join kids and families from around Woburn at the annual Mayor's field day on August 17! The event will be located next to the Woburn Public Library, off Abbot Street. Events and activities will start at 11:00am and carry on until 1:00pm. Expect a range of performances, face painting, a magician and other great activities for kids and their families. 
 
If needed, the rain date will be on August 18th.
