House Tour Visitors

Save the date! The Woburn Holiday House Tours and Holiday Wine Tasting are coming up on December 8. We are putting together a great lineup of homes for the House Tour! One or two more homes are needed to complete the lineup. Contact David Crowley at dcrowley@socialcapitalinc.org if interested.

Scarecrow

Mark your calendars for McCue's annual fundraising event, Scarecrows for Solutions, happening on October 12th & 13th! Every year McCue Garden Center partners with local nonprofits to host a fun filled family & community focused event. Scarecrows for Solutions is a drop in event where you bring a long sleeve shirt and pants, all other materials will be provided. The cost per scarecrow is $15.00 and 100% of the proceeds go straight to the nonprofits we have partnered with. Join us for another memorable event while giving back to your community!

A basketball

The Travel Basketball Program is offered for boys and girls in grades 4 – 8 that are Woburn residents.  Any player that would like to be considered for a travel basketball team must attend one of the two evaluation days.  Players are picked for teams based on ability and skill level. Unfortunately, not everyone will make a team, but every player that would like to tryout is encouraged to do so. Practices are held 1 to 2 times per week in addition to games on Saturdays and Sundays.  If you have any questions regarding this program please contact the Recreation Office.

The Woburn Recreation Department will be holding an informational meeting on Thursday, October 17th at 6pm in City Hall to discuss the Dog Park currently being built at Ferullo Field.

The purpose of this meeting is to update the residents on the project and also to establish a Friends of Woburn Dog Park Group. We have been touch with other cities in towns regarding the protocols that they have in place for their established Dog Parks. All the representatives that we spoke to all agreed that creating a Friends of Woburn Dog Park is crucial for its success.

The next #WoburnUnites Cultural Connections Dinner is coming up on Tuesday, May 7, 6:30-8:30 PM, featuring delicious Haitian food. The goal of the event is to build ties between Woburn's longtime residents and the newer immigrant community using food and conversation as a basis for people to learn about the different cultures represented throughout the community.

Woburn resident Nathalie Lecorps will be preparing the meal for the event. Nathalie was the chef for the inaugural "Supper Club" whereby residents cook a meal together to learn about another culture. The food was a big hit so we invited to cook for this event!

Nathalie was born and raised in Miami, Florida and recently moved to Massachusetts in August. She grew up helping her parents in their Haitian restaurant that they owned for 15+ years. Nathalie threw her passion in that restaurant helping the cooks prepare the food she loved for the community she loved. She has two sons who are enjoying the New England weather since moving.

Nathalie offers catering services under her brand "Gourmet Kreyol".
