History buffs rejoice because Woburn resident and Woburn Historical Society member Leon E. Basile has just written a new book called "A Union Town During the Civil War; Woburn, Massachusetts" (Volume One). Published and copywritten by the Historical Society, this book has been a long time coming and 937 pages later it is here for readers to enjoy! The book covers the history of Woburn before the Civil War from 1850 through July of 1862.

This book would not have been possible if it wasn't for the assistance of Kathy Lucero and Bob Maguire who made sure it got published, along with the help of John Flaherty who generously offered to pay for the printing fees and the entire project. Both Flaherty and Basile would like the proceeds from the book sale to go to the Historical Society.

If you would like to order a copy of the book and support the Historical Society, you can order it on their website (click here) or pick up a copy for $35 at the Burdett Mansion on Tuesday's from 10-12pm and Saturday's from 10-12pm.
