children's activities

Remember all those New Year's Resolutions we made about getting healthy and feeling well? If you're looking for new ideas, fun activities, or important services, then you should be excited that it's that time of the year again when the Woburn Recreation Department runs its Annual Health & Wellness Fair!

This family-friendly event in Woburn will feature Health, Wellness, Fitness, & Educational Information all geared towards living a healthier lifestyle. On March 28th, 2015, the Fair will take place at Woburn Memorial High School and will run from 10:00am – 1:00pm. They have 33 vendors who will be attending the Health & Wellness Fair this year, highlighting a variety of different health and wellness related activities and services.

We at SCI are mostly excited about the food samples and demos in massage chairs, but they are also going to be doing some fitness demos! Big crowd pleasers will be Zumba & Yoga for adults, and a Zumba for Kids demo! You can find their list of vendors on the attached Health & Wellness Flyer.

Bring the kids down to Ice House Park at Horn Pond for a guided walk around the lagoon! Sponsored by WREN, the Horn Pond Walk for Children will take place on Saturday, June 15th at 9:00 a.m.!

The walk will consist of learning a little history about the pond, looking at wild flowers and trying to spot baby animals. Make sure you come prepared with comfortable walking shoes and sunblock and bug spray if needed. Other items you may want to bring include water and a camera. Please leave the pets at home, so the animals are not scared away.

This walk will be anywhere from 1 to 1.5 hours. It is geared toward children, but all are welcome to attend. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Town Day is a community party that takes place each year in late spring. Thousands of individuals and families who attend get the chance to enjoy a day of browsing exhibits, playing games, competing in athletics, eating, listening to different types of music, attending the health fair, and watching the grand finale, fireworks!

The North Suburban YMCA is currently looking for 2 to 3 volunteers to help lead a children's activity at Town Day. If you are interested in volunteering for this, please contact Annie Medonis at amedonis@socialcapitalinc.org.
