Community Conversation at the Woburn Public Library

From date:
Sun, 06/10/2012 - 2:00pm
Woburn Public Library

On Sunday, June 10 at 2pm, Woburn Public Library volunteer Linda Olsson will present the next Community Conversation, screening over 100 photographs from the Patrick Farino Collection.

The audience will be encouraged to identify what they recognize.

Thanks to all the dedicated Woburn voters, Spence Farm has been chosen to receive an orchard from Edy’s Fruit Bars Communities Take Root program.

The orchard will be built in an “underutilized, overgrown” area of the farm as part of an Eagle Scout orchard and butterfly garden, according to an Agricultural Committee statement on the Edy’s website, to help teach people how to care for, maintain and enjoy planting, harvesting  “and, in general, the fruits of their labor.”

McCue Garden Center is pleased to celebrate their third summer of offering C.S.A. shares to their customers!  Each week the farm is brought to you with fresh, locally grown, organic vegetables.

This year, McCue Garden Center teamed up with First Light Farm in Hamilton, MA.  Each week from mid-June thru late October (20 weeks), members of the Summer 2012 C.S.A.  receive a box of freshly harvested, local, organic vegetables.  A mid-size share is offered, which provides a perfect amount of vegetables at a great value.  The early season starts with roots, greens, and other cool season crops.  By mid-summer, heat loving crops such as tomatoes and zucchini are coming in.  Early fall brings on the hearty storage crops like winter squash, as well as a new round of the cool season roots and greens.   Each week provides a unique opportunity to eat with the seasons.

The time to sign up is now!  The number of shares is limited, so don't miss out!
