WorldFest 2016

On May 22, from 1-5pm,  WorldFest returns this year for another multicultural celebration. WorldFest hosts a number of tables, with food vendors and crafts, as well as a series of cultural performances in music and dance.WorldFest will take place on the Woburn Public Library Lawn at 45 Pleasant Street and the rain location will be at the Woburn Memorial High School, 88 Montvale Avenue.

WorldFest is coordinated by SCI & the YMCA International Learning Center, and hosted by the Woburn Public Library.



Cummings Properties (Washington St, Woburn, MA) is hosting its 9th Touch-a-Truck on Sunday, May 17, from 10 AM to 1 PM.  In previous years, an estimated 3,000 children and adults came to West Cummings Park, Woburn to marvel at the enormous trucks, and fascinating public safety equipment and displays.  

This year we have the amazing SWAT and NEMLEC trucks complete with our police heroes, lots of construction vehicles, cranes, and even a helicopter that you can sit in the cockpit after watching it land. Bob the Builder will be joined by our very own Lowell Spinners and mascot who will arrive in the Mystery Machine! FREE digital Child ID kits, activities for the kids, and watch the famous Jaws of Life in action! Tour the world in your own backyard! WorldFest is returning to Downtown Woburn on Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 1-5 pm. Admission is free. International artwork and crafts will be available for purchase, as well as food from around the world. Sample Brazilian sugarcane juice, Persian sweets, and Indian delicacies. Performers entertaining the crowd this year include Gund Kwok Troupe Lion Dance, Cuban musician Coco Torres, Ku’s Taekwondo Academy, Hakuna Matata Dancers, Winchester Chinese School, Indian Bollywood Dancers, and the Korean School of New England.

Tips on Getting Published from Nevertheless Writers

Nevertheless Writers is a cross-genre collaborative of North Shore authors including Holly Robinson, Edith Maxwell, Elizabeth Atkinson, Susan Paradis and Nancy Crochiere. The five members share their diverse writing and publishing experiences through panel discussions across the North Shore with backgrounds that include mainstream fiction, mystery writing, picture books, middle-grade novels, and humor. Join them on Thursday, May 28th (7pm) at the Woburn Library as they share inside tips on getting published! Plenty of time will be available for Q&A, and a reception will follow.
