They are again very pleased to have Linda Schwartz as their guest naturalist. She will show and tell about such methods as hibernation, winter sleep, why birds stand on one foot, how do they stay warm, etc. She has given talks on that subject when she worked at both Franklin Park and Stone Zoos. She has a broad knowledge of nature and is an avid nature photographer. You can see more of Linda's nature photos here.

Horn Pond Nature Walk for Children

Bring the kids down to Ice House Park at Horn Pond for a guided walk around the lagoon! Sponsored by WREN, the Horn Pond Walk for Children will take place on Saturday, June 15th at 9:00 a.m.!

The walk will consist of learning a little history about the pond, looking at wild flowers and trying to spot baby animals. Make sure you come prepared with comfortable walking shoes and sunblock and bug spray if needed. Other items you may want to bring include water and a camera. Please leave the pets at home, so the animals are not scared away.

This walk will be anywhere from 1 to 1.5 hours. It is geared toward children, but all are welcome to attend. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
