Youth Council volunteering

On Tuesday, December 11, Woburn Youth Council members volunteered at a NuPath residential facility in Wilmington. This facility houses five men with high functioning autism. Members of the council and the residents put together photo frames decorated with holiday motifs for their families.

The members were supervised by NuPath staff and SCI AmeriCorps members Yekaterina Fillippova, Ashley Napear, and Leigh Wilmot, who coordinated this volunteer opportunity. Yekaterina and Ashley are Youth Leadership Coordinators at the Boys and Girls Club and Leigh Wilmot is an Outreach and Technology Coordinator at NuPath Inc.

NuPath’s newest event “Laugh Out Loud” proved to be a smashing success, raising over $10,000 from the proceeds of ticket sails, raffle donations, and silent auction bids. The event, which took place at the Montvale Plaza in Stoneham on September 28th, was headlined by Showtime’s “Funniest Person in Massachusetts” comedian Tony V., who kept the crowd of 150 roaring throughout the night.  All proceeds from the event, which boasted not only an unforgettable performance by Tony V. but dance music by the band Strictly Overtime and a delicious buffet dinner went to support the 350 adults with developmental disabilities that NuPath serves.
