Beat Soup Band MemberDo you have great taste in music?  Well we sure don't.  That's why we need you to join the Summer Concert Series Committee!

For seven years now, SCI has organized our wildly successful Concert Series, and we need you to help with year eight!  To see a schedule of last year's concerts, click here.

Members of the committee will meet roughly six evenings between now and the summer to listen to bands, discuss promotion, sponsors, and anything else we need to make this year's series a success.  read more »

First Summer Concert a success

The Jack Marlowe Park Summer Concert Series kicked off  last Friday with Ska band Beat Soup. The rain held off and an enthusiastic crowd gathered for the concert sponsored by the Woburn Mall/KGI Properties.

Audience members were treated to Beat Soup’s Ska-influenced style that included both instrumental dance pieces and vocal numbers. Playing originals and covers, the 7-piece band from Boston featured a classic sax, trombone, and trumpet section as well as guitar, keyboard and drums. The band had audience members dancing from start to finish with their lively beats. The night ended perfectly with clear skies and a happy, toe-tapping crowd.  read more »

Forecast Good for First Summer Concert

The Jack Marlowe Park Summer Concert Series kicks off this week with Beat Soup. The concert runs from 7-9P.M. at Jack Marlowe Park located in Woburn Center. Beat Soup will bring an upbeat ska sound that will definitely get your toe tapping. KGI Properties/The Woburn Mall will be there to raffle off some great prizes. Irish Folk Band The McTaggerts a Crowd Favorite

A lucky crowd got quite a show last Friday night with the third Jack Marlowe Park Concert performer The McTaggerts. The concert, sponsored by Dunkin Donuts of Woburn Center, drew a crowd of over 150 music enthusiasts to hear classic Irish Folk Music songs be performed.

The weather held off for The McTaggerts turning last Friday nights performance into a crowd favorite.  With requests being made right and left by members of the audience both young and old the concert quickly turned into a success.  Members of the community quickly became involved in the concert with many different sing along songs and lively tunes that made you want to get up and dance.  read more »

SCI Presents The Jack Marlowe Park Summer Concert Series

This week the band The McTeggart's will be performing.  The McTaggerts's performances are high-energy exuberant fun, with such classiscs as Danny Boy, Dublin in the Rare Old Times, and many more.  The McTeggart's are Jimmy Byrne and Mike O'Brien.  The concert takes place on Friday July 24th from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm and is held in Woburn Center.  For more information about The McTeggart's you can check out their website www.themcteggarts.com.  This concert has been generously sponsored by Dunkin Donuts in Woburn Center.  read more »

Bluegrass Beats Draws Large Crowd for Southern Rail

A lucky crowd got quite a show last Friday night with the second Jack Marlowe Park Concert performer Southern Rail. The concert, sponsored by Michael de la Maza, drew a crowd of over 150 music enthusiasts to hear some great original and proven favorite bluegrass tunes.

The great weather helped Southern Rail make an extraordinary debut in Woburn. The Band, made up of banjo, 6-string guitar, bass cello, and mandolin players all joined together in riveting harmonies to produce vocals everyone enjoyed. Southern Rail’s reputation for strong material, heart-stopping harmonies, and infectious good humor got the crowd laughing and clapping to the beat throughout the two hour concert.  read more »
