Novel Engineering Challenges at Woburn Public Library

Join the Woburn Public Library for a fun summer reading activity called Novel Engineering Challenges! On Wednesday, July 26 from 9:30am-11:00am, the Library and Tufts University's Center for Engineering Education and Outreach, will hold a hands-on engineering challenge for kids 8 years and up. They will read selections from Judy Blume's "Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing," and then design solutions for characters in the book. The will take place at the Woburn Senior Center on 144 School St. in Woburn, MA. 
 

The Woburn Public Library will be hosting their 2014 Summer Reading Adventure. Children are encouraged to sign up for the adventure at the Library located at 45 Pleasant Street between June 23 and July 25, 2014. Participants will receive a tracker sheet and a folder after signing up. They are encouraged to keep track of the amount of time they spent reading or number of pages read depending on their grade. Each week they meet their reading goal, they will earn a museum pass.

The Woburn Public Library continues its summer reading program with several events taking place this Thrusday. From 9:30—10:00 am enjoy baby songs with James Leple, which will be held outside, weather permitting; otherwise it will be held indoors in the study hall. Please bring a cool beverage so that your child stays hydrated.

The Woburn Public Library invites students to Uno’s restaurant at the Woburn Mall from 6:00—8:30 pm. There, they will make pizzas, eat, then play Scrabble, hopefully meeting new players from other communities and having a great time playing!  Bring a partner or pair up with someone new.

Peter Wilde from Boston Tree Preservation on Draper Street, in Woburn will be at the Woburn Public Library to show kids and adults of all ages just what’s so special about red wigglers and worm composting. He will have on display generations of worms, and demonstrate how they do their work. He will also answer questions about composting, going green by recycling food waste, and much more!
