Looking for a meaningful gift to give your family this holiday season? Then do your shopping at the Fair Trade Craft Festival at the United Methodist Church in the West Hall on Friday, November 30 from 6-9pm or on Saturday, December 1 from 9am-1pm!

Not only will you find an abundance of unique gifts from local crafters and crafters from other countries such as Guatemala and Nicaragua, but your purchases will help support families in developing countries struggling to meet basic needs. The sale of fair trade goods ensures that the people who produce these goods receive a living wage for their work.

If you need to take a break from all that shopping, stop by the Festival Cafe for a light supper or a morning coffee break!

Woburn Youth Council Making a Positive Impact at the Dwelling Place

Woburn Youth Council at the Dwelling Place

Most teens look forward to the weekends as a time to relax and hang out with friends after a busy week of doing school work. But the teens at the Woburn Youth Council decided to spend their weekend differently by volunteering at a local soup kitchen called the Dwelling Place located at the United Methodist Church in Woburn.

On Saturday, September 29, the Woburn Youth Council helped cook and serve 20 people spaghetti and meatballs, salad, coffee, milk, and ice cream sandwiches. Pictured are Bryan Filardo, Rachael Wells (middle), and Jackie Kelley who served dinner to patrons. Not included in the picture are Joe Filardo who also volunteered and Michael Gorrasi and Yekatrina Filippova from the Boys and Girls Club of Woburn who supervised the teens along with another volunteer from the church.

The Woburn Youth Council is very active in the community and this is only one example of how they make a difference regularly. SCI would like to recognize them as our Social Capitalists of the Month!
