Are you an everyday superhero? Looking for ways to help? Or an opportunity to volunteer? While you may not be able to fly or have super strength, there are ways you can be a hero this season.

The Council of Social Concern is starting their 29th Annual Holiday Food Project and needs help to ensure the comfort and food security of those in Woburn and Winchester who seek its services. As the weather grow colder and the days shorter, the need is greater, and many are looking to help. 

Be the hero of your neighborhood.

Wright-Locke Farm in Winchester will be hosting their third family fun night this Thursday, July 11th. Enjoy an evening with Lauren Scheuer, author of Once Upon a Flock, a great kids book about chickens. Lauren will read from her book and do some sketching as well.

Families are welcome to bring their own picnic or pre-order a picnic dinner from Stone Hearth Pizza and it will be delivered right to the farm at 6:00pm. Due to very strong demand, please place your order online with Stone Hearth by 3:00 pm and pay in advance.

Put on your dancing shoes and join us for an old fashioned square dance with caller, Tony Parks, to the music of The Hi-tone Ramblers. Wright-Locke Farm’s 2nd Annual barn dance is the place to be for novice and accomplished dancers alike.This is an adult oriented event with a cash bar and complementary desserts and non-alcoholic beverages. Don't miss out! This event will take place on Saturday, July 20th from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Registration is now open. Tickets are $25.00 per person. Town Day in Winchester

Come to Town Day in Winchester for a day of browsing exhibits, playing games, competing in athletics, eating, listening to different types of music, attending a health fair, and watching the grand finale of fireworks!

The farm stand at Wright-Locke Farm (78 Ridge St., Winchester) is now open! Come on down to pick up some fresh vegetables such as arugula, salad greens, kale, turnips and radishes! The farm stand is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 to 3:30.

This summer at the farm there will also be a series of education workshops for adults. The first workshop will be "Foraging Walk with Russ Cohen." Cohen is a Massachusetts-based forager with over 30 years of experience with wild, edible plants.

This workshop will include a walk through the fields and property in search of edible plants. This event will take place on Thursday, June 27th from 6-8PM. Limited slots are available. To register, please send an e-mail to:

Looking for a fun way to get involved? Consider helping out at Town Day in Winchester on Saturday, June 1st from 9AM-4PM.

Town Day is a community party that takes place each year in late spring. Thousands of individuals and families who attend get the chance to enjoy a day of browsing exhibits, playing games, competing in athletics, eating, listening to different types of music, attending the health fair, and watching the grand finale, fireworks!
