Join the Woburn Public Library at their temporary location 36 Cummings Park at 7:00pm to listen to, think about, and discuss Radiolab's Nazi Summer Camp. This episode explores the history of POW camps in the United States during WWII and the prisoners' integration into communities where they were held captive. There will be snacks, no registration neccessary.

Social Justice Book Club: Evicted--Poverty and Profit in the American City

Join the Woburn Public Library for a thoughtful discussion of Matthew Desmond's much lauded non-fiction book, Evicted, which takes a deep dive into one of the most urgent issues facing American today--poverty and economic exploitation. Copies are available at the library (get yours while they last), and no registration is necessary.  Light refreshments will be provided.

Back to Our Future event invitation

The Woburn Public Library would like to invite you to their latest event, Back to Our Future: A Celebration and Fundraiser for the Woburn Public Library. The event will be a festive evening of fine dining, music, and merriment, to both celebrate and raise funds for the library's latest building project set to break ground this upcoming March. It will be held on Saturday, November 5 at Cafe Escadrille in Burlington, MA. 

Tickets are still available for $125 per person. The event will begin at 6:30pm. Woburn Public Library Speaker Series: LGBT in the Mass Media

Join the Woburn Public Library in inviting Journalism/Communications Professor Amy Callahan for another part in the Woburn Public Library Speakers series. Professor Callahan will be presenting "From Absence to Ellen: A Survey of LGBT Representation in the Mass Media." It will explore the transition from the negative and harmful portrayal of the LGBT community in the mass media, to its current state, one in which LGBT individuals are portrayed much more widely yet in still often controversial depictions. 

The program will begin at 7pm at the Woburn Public Library. It is running in partnership with the Friends of the Woburn Public Library and the Northern Essex Community College Speakers Bureau.
 

Community Conversation featuring Patrick Farino Collection

The next to last Community Conversation will be taking place on Sunday, October 23 at the Woburn Public Library. Volunteer Linda Olsson will be presenting a series of more than 100 archived photographs from the Patrick Farino Collection. As always, the audience is encouraged to participate in the conversation to identify people/places in the pictures.
