Professor Callahan will be presenting "From Absence to Ellen: A Survey of LGBT Representation in the Mass Media." It will explore the transition from the negative and harmful portrayal of the LGBT community in the mass media, to its current state, one in which LGBT individuals are portrayed much more widely yet in still often controversial depictions.
The program will begin at 7pm at the Woburn Public Library. It is running in partnership with the Friends of the Woburn Public Library and the Northern Essex Community College Speakers Bureau.
The next to last Community Conversation will be taking place on Sunday, October 23 at the Woburn Public Library. As always, the audience is encouraged to participate in the conversation to identify people/places in the pictures.
This event is free and refreshments will be provided!
