On Wednesday, March 12 the Woburn Guild of Artists' President, Joseph Leto will present his lecture Art and Inspiration. This event will take place at the Woburn Public Library located at 45 Pleasant Street at 7 pm. Joseph Leto will take attendees on a tour of where famous artists get their thoughts and ideas for their works of art. During his lecture, Keiko Richter will paint her own masterpiece from the inspiration she feels, exhibiting the creative process. Her focus is to capture the atmosphere and the spirit of the subject as well as emotional response to it.

On Thursday, March 13 the Friends of the Woburn Public Library will host Coffee and Conversation about The Art Forager. This event will take place at the Woburn Public Library located at 45 Pleasant Street in Woburn beginning at 7 pm. Barbara Shapiro's The Art Forager was the book selected for this year's Woburn Reads event. The Art Forager has been on the New York Times Bestseller list, as well as a list published by the Boston Globe. Join Andrea Baker, Assistant Director of the Woburn Public Library, for coffee and conversation about the selected book.

Art Demonstration by Joseph Leto and Keiko Richter of the Woburn Guild of Artists at the Woburn Public Library. Mr. Leto will take you on a tour of where and how famous artists found their creativity and inspiration.  During this lecture, noted visual artist Keiko Richter will paint her own masterpiece from the inspiration she feels, exhibiting the creative process.

On Sunday, February 23 the Friends of the Woburn Public Library will host "Honor Enough: Sergeant Horatio J. Homer of the Boston Police Department". The event will begin at 2:00 pm at the Woburn Public Library located at 45 Pleasant Street. This is an illustrated lecture by Margaret R. Sullivan, the Records Manager and Archivist of the Boston Police Department. She will expound on new research that has identified Sergeant Homer as Boston's first African American Police Officer. He was appointed in 1878 and promoted to Sergeant in 1895; Homer served with distinction for more than 40 years.

The Woburn Public Library will host free income tax assistance preparation for low-to- moderate income Woburn residents. Local tax aide volunteers, who are trained by AARP and certified by the IRS, will provide assistance to both 2013 Federal and State tax forms. This assistance will take place on Saturday mornings from February 8th until April 12th.
