Woburn Senior Center is hosting a Valentine Dessert Party and Social.  Featured entertainment will be the New Orleans Jazz Band.

Snow Shovelers Needed!

Our elderly neighbors need our help! The Woburn Council on Aging is calling all able-bodied citizens to help our seniors who are snowed in. Snow and ice removal can be a challenge for the youngest and healthiest of us, so imagine how Woburn’s elderly are coping with these severe storms. To prevent serious injuries or going without necessities, they need your help to shovel and melt ice!

If interested, please contact Joanne Collins at 781-897-5960. Many senior citizens are able to pay for services; however, some would greatly benefit from volunteer service.

A Visit to Curacao

On Thursday, January 20 all are invited to a special program entitled: “A Visit to Curacao”.

The program begins at 10 a.m. featuring piano music with the talents of Bob Lague. The event continues at 10:30 a.m. with a presentation of Curacao. At 11:30 a.m. regional foods will be served for a special luncheon for all participants.

Getting Started: What to do when your family member has memory loss

The Getting Started program focuses on how to get a diagnosis for Alzheimer's, addressing behavior and communications problems, how to find and what to expect from local resources. Presented by trained staff and volunteers.

This program is for family members who are caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia. 

Group size may be limited. Program is free of charge. Pre-registration is necessary.

'Healthy Snacks/Healthy Dialogue' about Alzheimer's

Please join the Woburn Senior Center on Thursday, June 17th from 10am to Noon at the Woburn Senior Center, 144 School Street for the topic of “Healthy Snacks/Healthy Dialogue”.  Join family members, caregivers, people with Alzheimer’s and friends of the Alzheimer’s Association for coffee and healthy snacks and an opportunity to meet the legislators.  Topics will include the “Silver Alert” to combat wandering episodes and also Nursing Home Quality of Care Regulations.  The event is free and open to the public.  Please RSVP to Je

Coats for Kids

Coats for KidsThe Woburn Senior Center, 144 School Street, will once again be participating in the annual “Coats for Kids” drive in conjunction with Anton’s Cleaners.  Coats for all age groups will be collected in the front lobby of the Senior Center through January 9, 2010. Warm, winter jackets that are gently used and of good quality are requested.  The demand for coats is especially high this year and once collected, the coats are cleaned for free by Anton’s Cleaners and distributed throughout the Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire area.

Woburn Senior Center Hosts Ice Cream Social

Tickets are on sale at $1 each for an ice cream social scheduled for Thursday, August 6th at the Woburn Senior Center, 144 School Street.  Entertainment begins at 1pm featuring singer Greg Curtis, sponsored by the Cultural Council.  Ice cream sundaes will follow at 2pm and the event will conclude with a door prize drawing.  The Woburn Senior Center is fully air conditioned and handicap accessible.  For transportation information contact 781-897-5964.  Tickets to the event may be obtained at the reception desk at the Woburn Senior Center or phone 781-897-5960 for further information.
