Battle Road Cleanup and Dedication

Join the City of Woburn on Saturday, April 15 for the Battle Road cleanup and dedication. The cleanup will be first, followed by the unveiling of a new stone monument during a ceremony and collation at the Briscoe St. entrance. The whole event is to honor the men from Woburn who marched along the road toward Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. The Woburn Historical Society and Woburn Historical Commission will also present a brochue highlighting Battle Road's history and the list of Woburn men who served.

Join the city of Woburn on Saturday, April 15 at Battle Road to honor the men from Woburn that went off to fight on April 19th. The event will feature both a clean-up and re-dedication, as well as the unveiling of a new stone monument during a ceremony and collation at the Cambridge Road end. A brochure will also be available highlighting Battle Road's history and the list of Woburn men who served. 

This event is part of Woburn's 375th anniversary celebration. It represents an extraordinary opportunity to recognize the rich heritage of the great city of Woburn and the significant contributions of the men and women who have gone before us. Fishing Derby and Family Day at Horn Pond

The Woburn Elks are hosting a fishing derby and cookout at Horn Pond (the main location on Lake Ave.) from 9am-3pm on June 10. There will also be face painting and kayaking, and the debut of Woburn Historical Commission's historical homes publication.
 

Memorial Day Ceremony and Re-dedication

This event features a Memorial Day ceremony, as well as the re-dedication of the First Burial Ground on Park St. The re-dedication will be lead by Mayor Galvin, the Woburn Historical Society, and the Woburn Cemetary Commission. It will also feature a new memorial stone, new fencing, and plans to identify 461 unmarked burials recently identified.

Interfaith and Historic Celebration to honor Woburn's 375th Anniversary

Invitation to the Interfaith and Historic Celebration

Woburn's 375th Anniversary Celebration is set to kick off this week, with an exciting line-up of events throughout the year. The Woburn City Hall released a tentative list of the goings-on that you can expect for 2017. 

On January 8th at 2pm, the first event in celebrating the New Year will be the Interfaith and Historic Celebration to take place at the First Congregational Church. The keynote speaker of the event will be Massachusetts state Senator Ed Markey! Also featured will be a local children's choir led by Lynn Burns, the High School Choir, the Mishawum Choral Society, and a special 375th community choir, led by Brian Gilbertie. There will also be a re-enactment of the ordination of Woburn's first minister, Rev. Thomas Carter, in 1642.

Winter Family Festival and Hockey Classic

Woburn's Pond Hockey Tournament will be taking place at Leland Park on February 11 and 12. The event will also feature sleigh rides, ice skating and fireworks. Registration is now open and there will be a total of 34 teams participating. Click here to register for the tournament.
