DanversBank Teddy Bear Drive
Give a special bear hug! Danversbank is now sponsoring a new teddy bear drive from February 2nd – 28th at each of its branch offices to benefit the Department of Children and Families — the state agency formerly known as the Department of Social Services. This agency uses teddy bears to comfort children being removed from their homes. When a child enters the department’s care, he or she is given a backpack with a teddy bear, toothbrush, and other necessities like socks and underwear. "Oftentimes, a child is removed from a home under extreme stress, with nothing more than the clothes on his or her back," explained Carla King, Foster Parent Recruiter at the Salem office of the Department of Children and Families. "A teddy bear can provide companionship during a traumatic time and help ease their anxiety."
New teddy bears may be dropped off this month at any of the Danversbank locations in Andover, Beverly, Chelsea, Danvers, Malden, Middleton, Peabody, Reading, Revere, Salem, Saugus, Wilmington and Woburn.
