Meet the Author of The Art Forger
On Thursday, March 20 The Burbeen Free Lecture Series will host one of this week’s Woburn Reads events. Woburn Reads will continue with a visit from Barbara Shapiro, the author of this year’s selection, The Art Forger. In 1990, thirteen masterpieces were stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. This incident is the backdrop of The Art Forger, in which a struggling artist is asked to copy one of the stolen masterpieces, and must deal with the consequences.
This meet and greet with Barbara Shapiro will take place at the Joyce Middle School Lolly Gilgun Auditorium located at 55 Locust Street in Woburn beginning at 7:00 pm. Shapiro will host a question and answers section of the novel. Once that is complete she will be available to sign copies of her book.
As a special treat, under the direction of Nancy Borelli, some of the students of the Joyce Middle School have been studying the masterpieces stolen from the Gardner Museum, creating their own “forgeries”. Attendees will have the chance to view their stunning masterpieces at the event.
