Submitted by paulderman on Fri, 07/03/2009 - 10:46am.

A very good friend of mine, Cameron Bain, has been working tirelessly trying to make the Tri-Community Bikeway a reality. If you are so inclined please send a communication in support of this worthwhile project for our communities. A sample letter is attached.

Thanks

Dear Deputy Secretary

I am pleased to join with officials and other residents of Stoneham in support of the tri-Community Bike-Greenway project. I would very much appreciate you and your Committee placing our project back on the T I P. You may be aware that the Tri-Community Bike/Greenway had its routes in Stoneham over twenty-two years ago. You are also aware that this is one the oldest projects in the state to be eliminated from the TIP in June of last year. It is time to build this exiting project. This project enjoys the support of our town Officials and a very large number of our citizens.

The famous Minuteman Bikeway serves as a model for every project in the state. We know first hand from their success not only as a multi use trail but the economic benefits to the communities go without saying.

The proposed bikeway will follow the former railbed laid out similar to a reverse question mark through the center of town to the Woburn City Line. At this point it will follow the abandoned railbed into Woburn and eventually into Winchester. In all three towns the trail will link schools with parks, the library, the Boys’ and Girls’ club our proposed Mini Rose Kennedy Greenway and will be an integral part of the Safe Roots to School Program. This project will link up with the Minuteman Bikeway at Alewife Station in Arlington in a second phase. It will also connect to the future Woburn Linear Park over the former Woburn Loop into Woburn Square.

I am pleased to join with not only our elected officials but also my fellow citizens in urging you to encourage your Committee to place this well deserving project back on the TIP so that we can enjoy this Wholesome and Healthful Bikeway.

Sincerely,

Friend of the Stoneham Bikeway
