Woburn 375's Memorial Day Ceremony

Seal of Captain Edward Johnson

This year's Memorial Day Ceremony will begin on Monday, May 29 at the First Burial Ground on Park Street at 8am. There will first be a Call to Order led by Mayor Scott Galvin, Cemetery Commission Chair John Sawyer and Woburn Historical Society co-founder Kathy Lucero, followed by a re-dedication ceremony starting at 8:15am.

Mayor Galvin invites all citizens to join the city for this special dedication, honoring the memory of U.S. soldiers who have fought and died while in military service.

The special ceremony, which is in honor of the 375th anniversary of the City of Woburn, will include the unveiling of a new fence, new stone wall and walkway, new flag pole and a new bronze Memorial sign. There will also be a map and legend of marked and unmarked gravesites in the cemetery. Following the dedication, there will be a march to the Woburn Common at 8:45am, led by Veterans Director Larry Giuseppe and United Veterans Council Commander George Poole.
