On Wednesday, June 11th, from 9:30 to 10:30 am, the Council of Social Concern will be have a "Senior Issues" table promoting awareness of the issues affecting senior citizens in our community, along with a breakfast, at the Woburn Senior Center.

Middle school students are invited to join the Middle School Book Club which meets the second Wednesday of every month at 7pm. Each meeting is a chance to talk about a great book, sample tasty snacks and make new friends. The first meeting of the school year is Wednesday, October 10 at 7pm. To join the group, just come to the meeting or contact Christi Showman Farrar at the library.

Woburn Arts & Culture Today

The Woburn CoffeeHouse is an exciting way to bring people together, share ideas, artistic mediums and break bread over a hot mug of coffee or tea!

The CoffeeHouse takes place from 7pm - 9pm at the North Suburban YMCA. We look forward to seeing you there!

If you or anyone you know is a poet, musician, performance or visual artist, dancer, etc. please feel free to inquire about being a feature performer at the Woburn CoffeeHouse, the hottest thing in town!

Joan's Jaunt is a 5 mile road race sponsored by the Shamrock Running Club in memory and celebration of one of the founding members, Joan Curran.

She was a dedicated and tenacious runner whose memory is an inspiration to all runners.

Curran loved running and trained and completed the Boston Marathon while undergoing chemotherapy for cancer.

Proceeds from this race will be donated to the American Cancer Society and Joan's favorite charity, The Home for Little Wanderers.

The Woburn Public Library Children's Room is holding its 2008 summer reading adventure, "Wild Reads" during the months of June, July and August. This is nothing unusual, but this year the Library is sponsoring Heifer International's "Read to Feed" program in conjunction with "Wild Reads," so that children in Woburn understand world hunger and what they can do to help eliminate it.

On Monday, June 23rd, the Council of Social Concern is holding its Third Annual Golf Tournament at the Woburn Country Club on 5 Country Club Road.

Registration starts at 6:45 a.m. and the tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. Awards will be given following the tournament, along with a lunch, at 12:30 p.m. Proceeds from this event will benefit all agency programs.

A public information session will be held next Wednesday, June 25, at 7 p.m. in Winchester Town Hall to discuss the proposed Tri-Community Bikeway/Greenway, a six-mile recreational path designed to extend throughout the towns of Woburn, Stoneham, and Winchester.

The idea is to connect parks, recreational areas, historical sites and schools with a trail that can be used for walkers, runners, and bikers.
