Love Has No Borders: Storytelling and Music
Winchester Unitarian Society presents an evening to create awareness of refugee and immigrant experiences, inspiring hope -filled action through power of stories and music. Join them at The Jenks Center, 109 Skillings Rd, Winchester on Saturday, March 14 from 7-9pm. Doors open at 6:30. Coffee and desserts will be served. Suggested donation of $10-$20 per person. Proceeds benefit Lexington Refugee Assistance Program (www.LexRAP.org)
The featured speaker is Abdi Nor Iftin a refugee from Somalia who immigrated to the US. He is the author of Call Me American and speaks nationally about his experience as a refugee and his story of his life from before he came to the US.
Other storytellers will also speak along with a selection of Spanish folk music and songs sung at interfaith vigils at ICE detention centers.
