YMCACome to Woburn's North Suburban YMCA  on November 1st from 4:30PM. to 6:30 PM. for one last haunted hurrah!  See our haunted hallway and spooky mat room for toddlers, Vist our Fall Festival area in the gym.  Go on a building-wide scary scavenger hunt.  Snacks will be provided with admission and costumes are welcome! This is a great event for the whole family.  Admission for those with family memberships is free.   Regular members are $10/family and non-members will be $20/family.

woburn senior centerThe Woburn Senior Center, located on 144 School Street, will offer the annual “Friends Helping Seniors Holiday Fair and Lunch” on Saturday, November 1st from 9am to 2pm.  The fair will include a unique “White Elephant” room featuring all sorts of treasures.  Toys and games for the children will be offered as well as handmade crafts.  Holiday Items will be available as well as plants, jewelry, books, clothing and a bake sale.  Raffles will include gift baskets, handmade afghans and a thanksgiving basket.  The onsite “Golden Gift Shop” will be open for special Saturday hours.  All proceeds will benefit “Friends Helping Seniors”.  The Woburn Senior Center is handicapped accessible.

children's hospital of bostonOn Sat., Nov. 1st, the Children's Hospital of Boston will have their bloodmobile stationed at the Clapp School on 40 Hudson Street in Woburn, MA.  The blood drive will be  in the lower parking lot and will go from 10 AM. to 5PM.  It is being held in honor of Trent Kelly, a six year old boy with deep ties to the Woburn community.  Earlier this year, Trent was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins T-cell Lymphatic Lymphoma, and  donations made will go toward helping him in his time of need, as well as helping countless other children treated by the Children's Hospital of Boston.

snow houseJust an update on the Holiday House Tour.  Our next meeting will be held on Nov. 10th, at the New Horizons building on 21 Warren Ave. at 7PM.  We welcome any members of the community who would like to offer their ideas on how we can make this the best Holiday House Tour yet!  Our most recent planning meeting for the  was very productive, and  a lot of good ideas were offered by our new committee members.  We are still seeking more houses to be featured  as well as sponsors for the tour, so if you have or know of a house that may like to be a part of this year's tour, please contact sriley@sciwoburn.org or call 781-935-5820.  Also, if you are a local business that would like to sponsor a house or even provide an in-kind donation that will be featured at one of the houses in a raffle, please contact our office.

woburn host lionsIt's time once again for the Woburn Host Lions annual Halloween Parade here in Woburn!  The festivities will kick off Sunday Oct. 26th at 1 PM., beginning at the intersection (rotary) of Rt. 38 and I-95 by the Woburn Cinema/Holiday Inn Select, exit 35 off of I-95 heading south on Rt. 38, Main Street Woburn, traveling for 2.2 miles to the Woburn/Winchester Line.  Bring your family and friends to enjoy this fantastic and fun event! This is a charity event with proceeds benefiting the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund and many local Woburn Host Lions Club projects.

halloween ghostThe Children’s Room of the Woburn Public Library will sponsor a spooky (and slightly crazy) Halloween Party featuring children’s author Carolyn Crimi, author of “Boris and Bella,” and the newly published “Where’s My Mummy?”   Students in elementary grades K-5 are invited to listen to her tales, try their hand at being mummies, doing some monster dancing, and enjoying creepy treats afterwards.  The program will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30,  3:30—4:30 pm, in the first floor Study Hall. Crimi will NOT promise not to try to scare you, so be warned!  No pre-registration is required; do drop by. Children are welcome to wear their costumes, too! YMCAOn Friday, Oct. 24, the North Suburban YMCA will host the Taste of North Suburban Annual Gala. At this event members of the community will have a chance to sample dishes from local restaurants, enjoy dancing, raffles, and a live auction with great prizes such as Red Sox memorabilia and two round trip plane tickets.

Social Hour will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. and will include hors d’oeuvres and wine. Then from 7 to 11 p.m., enjoy dancing and food tasting from local restaurants.
