WorldFest Featured in Woburn Advocate

WorldFest Woburn was featured in the Woburn Advocate on June 21, 2007. An excerpt of the story is below, featuring a quote from yours truly.

“People were so willing to do outreach, going out to talk to strangers,” Sances said. “They were talking to restaurant owners, asking them to be involved. And it was successful. At this point we’re going to have at least 25 tables aside from musical performances.”

Abutters Like Plan for Bikeway

The recent Woburn Loop Bikeway Greenway Advisory Comittee meeting served as a good wrap-up for the work done over the past year on the project.  The project engineer, John Shevlin, and landscape architect, Pam Shadley, walked through an overview of the design concept plan.  We'll post images from the meeting soon.

This article, "Abutters Like $1.6 Million Plan for Bikeway", from last week's Woburn Advocate provides a good summary of the discussion from the meeting.

Bikeway Meeting Tonight

As mentioned on the project homepage, tonight's meeting will review an overall concept plan for the bikeway/greenway.  One of the project ideas that has generated interesting discussion is to locate an old train engine somewhere on the path.  The picture above is the engineer's rendering of what that might look like.

Your Ideas Wanted!

Walt Kearney of the Woburn Historical Society presented an interesting idea at the most recent Bikeway/Greenway Committee meeting. Walt proposes to place real, out of use steam engine somewhere on the bikepath. Following this idea, more creative thoughts are coming in--including a tot lot, dog park and more. The Woburn Loop Advisory Committee needs your ideas about the features that will make the Bikeway/Greenway an enjoyable place for Woburn residents.
