The mission of SCI Woburn is to strengthen the community by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives. The SCI Woburn website serves as a community resource connecting residents to volunteer opportunities, community events and resources.

Boston pride continued to build for the Bengals, the city kids whose national basketball win is finally getting noticed.

Yesterday the Roxbury and Dorchester fifth-graders - champs of the Amateur Athletic Union Tournament in July - got the perfect prize for young athletes: new sneakers.

Thanks to the generosity of George Alberecht and George Martell of Woburn Foreign Motors, the Bengals’ 10 team members and three coaches are wearing new Air Jordans.

rainbow

Did you happen to catch the rainbow over Woburn Center last Wednesday night? I only had my camera phone with me so couldn't truly do it justice. There was a wild wind and rainstorm, followed by this full rainbow This photo was taken from Library Field following a dramatic Woburn Rotary softball victory. We played right through the storm.

Block Party Information and Advice Needed

I am looking for information and Advice on our First Block Party.I have questions such as...  do we need a permit?  Do we need permission to block off the road?   Is there a time that is inappropriate?Would a Pot Luck theme work?Does it make sense to use the 100 dollars (if we get it) towards drinks/food or should we do something more like kids crafts or an entertainer?

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Despite much of the day being rather shaky in terms of weather, by late afternoon the rain had stopped and the sun even broke through! So the show with Joey Vellucci Band went on, and it was another good one. We were especially pleased to get this one in because Friday's sponsor, Woburn Mall/KGI Properties, had their shows last summer rained out. This explains Mall Manger Lori Medeiros' smile as she joins SCI's Mike Sances at the concert (photo below).

Did you miss WorldFest, Woburn's first ever multicultural festival? Now you can watch an hour of footage from this historic event, thanks to Woburn High School student Priynk Patel.
