The mission of SCI Woburn is to strengthen the community by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives. The SCI Woburn website serves as a community resource connecting residents to volunteer opportunities, community events and resources.

SCI is conducting a survey to learn more about community life, how our weekly email and other SCI activities have helped and how we can improve. Please visit our survey webpage, and answer the questions therein. Keep in mind that your responses are completely confidential. The survey ends the first week in March, and taking the survey gives you the chance to win a 10 dollar gift card to Panera Bread*. Thank you in advance for your participation!

*Did you take the survey but not get a chance to enter the raffle? If so, please contact us.

At our next CoffeeHouse we will have as our featured perfomer, Pete Crowley and the Mirror Neurons.

Pete CrowleyA year ago, Pete Crowley was at an open mic and was urged to play. After not having played before an audience in at least five years, since his days as Serendipity frontman, he was finally convinced. Soon after he began playing at venues throughout the region. Recently the "Mirror Neurons" have been added to his sound, creating an organic fullness. Influenced by everything from bebop to Pantera to Howlin Wolf to Leonard Cohen, Pete Crowley and the Mirror Neurons' sound is innovative digestion and amalgamation of their panoply of influences.

On Tuesday January 29, 2008 the Woburn Youth Council conducted the annual Youth and Adult Connections Forum at New Horizons.

The primary objective of the forum was for youth to engage in a dialogue centered on civic concerns. Youth contributed creative ways to improve their community and adults brought a sense of reason and practicality to executing the new ideas. Bridging the generational gap always enlightens youth and enhances their ability to find solutions.

Social Capital Inc (SCI) is proud to announce the Woburn Arts & Culture Today events publication. The publication consists of an artist directory and events calendar. The directory will be used to provide information regarding local performers, musicians and artisans. All Woburn artists are encouraged to click here and post their information in the directory. The calendar will be used to highlight and promote cultural events in and around Woburn. Presently, SCI is seeking submissions from local performers, musicians, artisans, agencies and programs for individual contact information and upcoming cultural events for Spring 2008. The deadline for submissions for our spring brochure will be February 22, 2008.
