Woburn has a way of coming together during tough times and the past few months have been a perfect example.

Our goal is to amplify all of the good that is happening in an effort to ensure the people, organizations and small businesses we care about are still with us in the months to come.

We are using #GivingTuesdayNow as an opportunity to launch a new initiative. We ask you to consider a daily goal over the next week to support nonprofit community organizations, support small business and help a neighbor each day.

The first thing you can do to support this #WoburnStrong initiative is to click “going" to the event, invite other people to the event, and share it on your Facebook timeline and with any groups or pages with which you are involved.

Nonprofit giving opportunities:
-give a donation. Every dollar counts!
-volunteer to help your favorite nonprofit
-like, comment and share a local nonprofit’s social media post

Small business giving opportunities:
-buy a gift card
-give a genuine online review
-like, comment and share a post from a local business Facebook page

Neighbor giving opportunities:
-check on a local senior neighbor
-offer to pick up supplies for a quarantined family.
-thank an essential worker you know

Post selfies of yourselves and others helping to keep Woburn strong! Use the hashtag #WoburnStrong to share photos and ideas for this initiative on your favorite social media platform; we will highlight some of your ideas as part of this campaign.

#WoburnStrong Giving Campaign

#WoburnStrong Throwback Thursday

Today the #WoburnStrong campaign has a Throwback Thursday. Here’s our take on the popular social media theme:

Share a photo here, and elsewhere on social media, that shows a good memory of something in Woburn that you look forward to getting back to. This might be having a meal at a local restaurant or visiting another local business you miss. Or maybe it is a special community event, school or other organization that isn’t operating as usual now.

When you share elsewhere on social media, be sure to use the #WoburnStrong tag along with #TBT so we can find it! And tag the WoburnStrong Giving Campaign when you share elsewhere on Facebook.

Food from Deliworks!

Wednesday's #Woburnstrong Challenge is to buy a Gift Card to your favorite local business.

Giving Tuesday NOW

These are some local nonprofit organizations with charitable support needs. Please contact us if you know of other organizations that could use some help.

City of Woburn Launches #WoburnStrong Giving Campaign from John Guilfoil Public Relations on Vimeo.

To coincide with national Giving Tuesday, the City of Woburn is launching a #WoburnStrong giving campaign to support local businesses, non-profits and community members.

Today we kick off the #WoburnStrong Giving Tuesday Now campaign!

Each day will have a theme that helps us focus on ways we can support local nonprofits and businesses, and help our neighbors. Of course, don’t feel limited by our themes-- get creative and be sure to tag the WoburnStrong event here, and use the #WoburnStrong hashtag so we can see how you are helping out!

To start things off, today we will focus on how your charitable donation to one or more local nonprofits can make a huge difference.

Our local nonprofit organizations have been stepping up big time to meet emerging needs we face with COVID-19. In addition to the major challenges to the health system, the pandemic creates major social and economic needs that nonprofits are addressing.

At the same time, economic conditions make it hard for organizations to raise funds. So any amount you give to a local charity through this campaign will be making a big difference.

Throughout the day today, we will share information and links about local Woburn organizations with active fundraising needs that you can support. But don’t wait for us, feel free to share about a local cause you know that is raising funds.

When you do make a donation today or throughout the week, please tag #WoburnStrong so we can know about it!
