The Citizens Park Summer Concert Series kicked off its sixth year Friday with Iyeoka Okoawo and The Funk Tribe. This first concert was sponsored by Woburn Mall/KGI Properties. Although showers had been in the forecast and rain fell, the sky cleared and the sun came out in time for the concert, and the weather was perfect for an outdoors performance.

Audience members were treated to Iyeoka and the Funk Tribe’s various styles of music and warm interaction with the crowd. The Boston-based band blended poetry with jazz, blues, gospel, and hip-hop, showcasing its members’ many talents throughout the evening, as well as encouraging audience members to dance.

This is the sixth year that the Citizens Park Summer Concert Series will entertain Woburn residents. The concerts are a great way to enjoy summer nights with your fellow community members, and at the great location also a chance to shop and have dinner in Woburn Center.
