Social Capital Inc. (SCI) has recently been joined by a new team of AmeriCorps Members.  These new members have been placed throughout the Woburn community, helping several different organizations expand their services to the community during this time of need.

Michael Cooper serves is serving as an Outreach and Technology Coordinator for the SCI Woburn office.  He manages the "Week in Woburn" eNews, serves as webmaster for the SCI Woburn website and operates various other web technologies for other SCI sites.  He has a B.A. in Philosophy from Furman University, an M.A. in Philosophy from Texas Tech University, and is currently finishing his M.S. in Ethics and Public Policy from Suffolk University.  read more »

Outreach & Technology Coordinator: The Outreach & Technology Coordinator will serve as a member on the Connecting Citizens AmeriCorps team, and will implement technology systems and traditional outreach efforts to connect citizens with the information they need to participate in civic life.   read more »

President-Elect Barack Obama is calling for a national day of service of Martin Luther King Jr. Day this year.  Both President Elect Barak Obama and Vice President Elect Joe Biden will be rolling up their sleeves for a community service project somewhere in the greater Washington DC area on this day.   If you are interested in volunteering with this volunteer opportunity and meeting new and interesting people please be sure to attend.

The Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA) played host last Thursday to the Annual AmeriCorps Opening Day.  The yearly occasion was held at Roxbury's Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. The event featured over 2,000 AmeriCorps members across the state, including individuals serving with Social Capital Inc. in cities such as Dorchester, Lynn, and Woburn. The AmeriCorps members were privy to a special treat in the form of guest speaker, Governor Deval Patrick (pictured above with this year's Social Capital Inc. team).  read more »

Greetings and salutations, friends, family, citizens and neighbors!  A new generation of AmeriCorps volunteers has arrived in the Woburn community and we thought we'd take this opportunity to introduce them to the people we'll be connecting and interacting  with.  We have four  members serving  throughout the community this year in a number of different roles.  Scott Riley, a Woburn native, will be serving as an Outreach and Technology Coordinator at SCI's main office in Woburn as well as the Woburn Council of Social Concern.  read more »
