Are you an everyday superhero? Looking for ways to help? Or an opportunity to volunteer? While you may not be able to fly or have super strength, there are ways you can be a hero this season.

The Council of Social Concern is starting their 29th Annual Holiday Food Project and needs help to ensure the comfort and food security of those in Woburn and Winchester who seek its services. As the weather grow colder and the days shorter, the need is greater, and many are looking to help.

Be the hero of your neighborhood.

Wondering what to do with that old television, computer monitor or appliance that is broken, unwanted or unused and just taking up space? So clean out those basements, attics, garages and warehouses and bring your items down! Our next collection will be held on Saturday, November 15 from 9 AM to 1 PM at Woburn’s Spence Farm located at 41 Wyman Street, in Woburn. This one will benefit Social Capital Inc. (SCI) A portion of the proceeds will be going towards a scholarship fund set up for Woburn Memorial High School graduating seniors who will continue their education in a field of environmental education.

Campbell American Legion Post 101. If you are interested in volunteering meet at the Calvary Cemetery located at 686 Washington Street at 10 am.

Share your talents with young students! Do you love working with youth? Consider volunteering to lead a class of sixth to eighth graders in the "Be Great Graduate" after-school program at the Joyce Middle School in Woburn.

This program is advised by SCI AmeriCorps Youth Leadership Coordinator Dorothy Gannon who serves at the Boys and Girls Club of Woburn. Each day the kids will participate in a fun activity such as cooking or science projects.

If you would like to volunteer to lead a class and do a fun activity with middle school students, please contact Dorothy Gannon at dgannon@socialcapitalinc.org.
