volunteer opportunities

The SCI Social Capitalist Luncheon is being held at the Sheraton Boston Hotel on Wednesday, April 3.

We are currently searching for volunteers to help at the registration table. This is a great networking opportunity, with nearly 400 Boston business professionals in attendance.

All volunteers will receive a FREE TICKET to the luncheon! For more on this year's SCI Luncheon, please click here

Please contact Karen Rice at krice@socialcapitalinc.org if you are interested in volunteering for this event.

Fruit Tree

Thanks to your support, Woburn has received a free orchard courtesy of Edy’s Fruit Bars!

Come join in the festivities as we celebrate this new addition to Spence Farm and plant the fruit trees at this groundbreaking party on Friday, August 3, starting at 9 a.m.

If you are planning on coming to help, please join the "Edy's Fruit Tree Grant Planting Party" Facebook Event page on the Friends of Spence Farm Facebook page or by sending an email to Vince Grillo at vingrillo@verizon.net

Do you have a skill to teach?

NuPath Inc. is looking for volunteers to teach classes to adults living with developmental disabilities.  This is a great opportunity to share your talent with others and make a difference in the lives of the individuals served.  Examples of classes needed are: photography, painting, money management, computer skills, cooking, etc. (the sky is the limit!)

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels Drivers needed in Woburn!
Do you have an hour to spare each week? Homebound seniors need your help. The Woburn Meals on Wheels program is in great need of drivers. Meals on Wheels is a long-standing national program serving mid-day meals to our most vulnerable seniors. The seniors are so grateful for your time. Just the brief interaction improves their health and well-being. And drivers report finding their work very meaningful. For more information, call or e-mail Debbie Barr at Minuteman Senior Services. 781-221-7023 or d.barr@minutemansenior.org.

Spence Farm

The Woburn Summer Farmers Market is starting and is always looking for volunteers to help the vendors set up and break down, sell cold drinks, give information about the property and events, set up the petting zoo, help bands load and unload equipment, load and unload the hayrides, and maintain the property. If you are available for a few hours on any Sunday and want to lend a hand, they would love to have you.

Project Bread

Are you looking for a meaningful project this summer?  The YMCA has again partnered with Project Bread to serve free lunches to children this summer.  Volunteers are needed to help serve lunch Monday- Friday starting June 20.  If you are interested in volunteering your time to help this great cause, please contact Rebekah at rscaduto@ymcaboston.org or 781.305.2927.

Appliance Recycling

Wondering what to do with that old television, computer monitor or appliance that is broken, unwanted, unused, and just taking up space?

The Medeiros Crew Recycling will be holding an appliance recycling collection!  This collection will be held on Saturday, June 16 from 9am to 1pm at Woburn’s Spence Farm, located at 41 Wyman Street. This month, the collection will benefit projects and programs related to Spence Farm.  A portion of the proceeds will go towards the scholarship fund for a Woburn High School graduating senior studying environmental education.
