Horn Pond Day

On Saturday, June 9, the second annual Horn Pond Day sponsored by the three Lions clubs in Woburn: Woburn Host Club, Woburn Middlesex Lions and the Woburn Breakfast Club, will take place.
This year there will be a Bicycle/Doll Carriage Parade Contest, Fun Run and Road Race for both adults and children sponsored by the YMCA, crafters, food, music, hot air balloon rides, 4H Petting Zoo, pony rides, 4 local bands and some surprises.  The day is scheduled to run from 10am - 4pm.

Saturday, May 5 is Conservation Day, and the City of Woburn is turning out to celebrate!  Join WREN and The Friends of Spence Farm in their clean-up efforts.  WREN members will be at Horn Pond pulling out overgrown plants and planting new shrubs and flowers in the memorial plot at Ice House Park.  At Spence Farm, people will be picking rocks from the field, pulling limbs from the pond, staining the picnic tables, hay wagon deck, and seats, among other things.  People are encouraged to bring gloves, rakes, shovels, and any other hand tools you may need.  Sign-in is at 9am for both the Horn Pond clean-up, on Cove St., and the clean-up at Spence Farm, 41 Wyman Street.

On Sunday, April 22, Mark Rosenblum will be leading a guided tour of the Horn Pond Trails.  This will be a 2.5 mile walk starting from Sturgis St. and then reviewing several of the trails marked with posts west and north of Lions Park.  If you are interested in attending, please e-mail Mark Rosenblum at hikingmark@yahoo.com.

BeatleTracksThe Beatles are coming! The Beatles are coming! Well, not the actual Beatles, but a band called BeatleTracks. This band is scheduled to play at Horn Pond in Woburn on Saturday, August 20 starting at 6:45 p.m. This tribute band is based here in Massachusetts and this performance is being sponsored by Dunkin Donuts of Woburn Center. They are committed to performing the authentic sounding music of the Beatles live in concert (including the Beatles solo careers).  Formed in 2002 the band was drawn together by their love of the Beatles and the desire to keep alive the sounds that have brought them so much joy.
