"Dough Raiser" to Benefit Linscott Rumford School

On Thursday November 7th the Linscott Rumford School will be hosting a fundraiser at Uno's Bar and Grill at the Woburn Mall. Come eat at Uno's to help support the Linscott Rumford Elementary School. Uno's will donate up to 20% of your check towards the school.

YMCA Food Drive Banner

The North Suburban YMCA is teaming up with other Greater Boston YMCAs, the City of Boston, and the Greater Boston Food Bank to help fight against hunger, while improving the health of the Woburn community. The "Get Fit, Give Back" food drive is taking place from now until November 11th. By donating 5 non-perishable cans of food at any YMCA of Greater Boston location, the $25-50 joiner feed is waived!

Boy Scout Troop 519 Bottle and Can Fundraiser

On Saturday September 28, Boy Scout Troop 519 will be holding a bottle and can fundraiser at Ferullo Field located on Main Street in North Woburn. This event will take place from 9 am until Noon. If you have large quantities of bottle or cans, please contact Lori at 617-710-4152 to arrange a pick up. 

Breast Cancer Ribbon

Team Alisa is holding a Breast Cancer Fundraiser featuring local celebrity Jim Plunkett. Team Alisa is a group of friends and family that work together to help raise funds for Alisa Macone’s medical bills. This event will take place Saturday September 14, at the Woburn Elks Lodge located at 295 Washington Street.

Knights of Columbus Logo

The Knights of Columbus Council #77 invites everyone to attend their Coats for Kids event. The event will take place Saturday September 14, from 10 AM to 3 PM at St. Charles Church located at 280 Main Street, Woburn. The Knights of Columbus would encourage individuals to purchase fall flowers to brighten their homes. The proceeds from the flower sales will help keep children warm this winter. Funds raised through this event will be used to purchase coats for Woburn families in need.

The Council of Social Concern has just announced their Annual Golf Tournament sponsored by Skyworks Solutions, Inc. and Winchester Savings Bank. This year’s Philip J. Casey Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at the Woburn Country Club.

Phil was past President of the Board of Directors for Council of Social Concern. Phil was the Golf Committee Chair for the agency’s first Golf Tournament in September 2006. He was an extremely kind, giving and hard-working individual who embodied so many of the Council of Social Concern’s core values.

All proceeds from this annual golf tournament will benefit the agency's programs, which provide hope, help and support to those most in need in our community. The Council of Social Concern's services include affordable childcare and preschool education, emergency and supplemental food assistance, parenting education, supervised visitation, and information & referral services.

Registration and a Continental Breakfast will begin the event at 6:45 a.m. followed by a Shotgun Start at 7:30 a.m. The event will be capped off with awards and a fabulous Barbeque Lunch.  Fees for the event are $125.00 per golfer or $475.00 per foursome which includes an 18 hole Scramble with a golf cart, continental breakfast and Barbeque Lunch. There are several levels of sponsorship available.

Join the Woburn Lions Club on Saturday, June 8th at 10AM for a showing of the award-winning documentary The Renegades: A Beep Ball Story.

The Association of Blind Citizens (ABC) has partnered with the Lions to bring this film about a beep baseball team for the blind to the Showcase Cinema in Woburn. This baseball team gives individuals who are blind a chance to participate in a team sport, develop team building skills and enhance personal independent living skills.

This film raises awareness of blind athletes and the volunteers that work with them. After the film, the Lions Club will host a baseball cookout and ceremony from 12-2PM at the Crowne Plaza. Tickets for this event are $25 per person. To purchase tickets, please click here.
