T'ai Chi classLooking for a way to get into shape for the coming summer? Then it's time to discover T'ai Chi and come to the Woburn Senior Center located at 144 School Street to try out this excellent form of exercise. The class will be held this Friday, June 5th, from 10AM to 11AM.

SCI Woburn Youth Council Debuts "Speak Up for Healthy Teen Relationships!"

Speak Up!SCI's Woburn Youth Council hosted an evening screening of its recently completed Public Service Announcement (PSA)  "Speak Up for Healthy Teen Relationships!" Saturday evening at the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn.  The PSA was presented during an evening of activities set up for Woburn teens.  A great group of teens joined Woburn Youth Council members to think about how to make teens in Woburn safer, healthier and happier.

Senior Issues Discussion Group

senior center signThis Wednesday, May 27th the Woburn Senior Center, located at 144 School Street, is proud to present it's next installment of their popular discussion series entitled, “Northeast Senior Health Services”  presented by Carol Pallazolla from Northeast Senior Health.  Let’s discuss health services available in the Woburn area. A breakfast buffet for those attending the lecture will be served at 9:45am for $1 per breakfast, supported by “Friends Helping Seniors” and AARP Secure Horizons. Breakfast will be followed by the free lecture at 10:30am.

Healthy Kids Day at the Y

This will be an opportunity for kids and families to “Put Play in Their Day,” YMCA Healthy Kids Day, which will run from 2PM to 4PM, uses free, fun, engaging and creative activities to encourage children and families to adopt behaviors that support a healthy lifestyle.

Elm Brook Place Offers relief for those with Mental Illness

Eliot community human services bannerElm Brook Place in Bedford since 2000 has been providing men and women suffering with mental illnesses an opportunity to get back on their feet.
Located at 124 South Road, Elm Brook Place services individuals from Acton, Arlington, Bedford, Boxboro, Burlington, Carlisle, Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, Littleton, Maynard, Stow, Wilmington, Winchester and Woburn.  Elm Brook Place (a program of Eliot Community Human Services, Inc.) is a day-time Clubhouse program that serves men and women recovering from mental illness from over fourteen communities. We are funded by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health.  Elm Brook Place provides a supportive environment for its members with opportunities for: meaningful work; relationships; community employment and career development; educational advancement; referral for treatment; and assistance with entitlements such as housing and disability benefits.  Providing for people ages 18 and up, Elm Brook Place is also open on the holidays so that people with nowhere to go have a place to be.

YMCA Hosts Staying Positive Workshop

This workshop explores the techniques for maintaining a better attitude.  Come and experience this high-energy presentation which will teach you how to take great care of yourself using specific methods of behavior.  Learn how to set and achieve goals, focus on your character and stay positive.  Energy givers?  Energy takers?  You'll learn how to enjoy the givers and handle the takers.   You're sure to learn...you're sure to laugh!
