Disrupting Racism Three Part Learning Series

Social Capital Inc. is partnering with Network for Social Justice to bring you the Disrupting Racism Series on Tuesday, February 9th, 23rd, and March 9th.  Participants will map out their own anti-racism journeys, learn key concepts and theories surrounding racial justice, and gain practical tools they can use to disrupt racism in their everyday lives. Priority for this event will be given to those who live, work, and/or worship in Winchester and Woburn, but those from other communities are welcome to attend as well.

Each session will begin at 7PM and run for 2 hours. It is recommended that participants attend all 3 sessions but the option to register for one day is also available.

Dinner with a Movie, Traces of the Trade: A Story of the Deep North

Join us for a screening and discussion on Friday, February 26 from 6-9pm! Traces of the Trade: A Story of the Deep North is a compelling documentary which not only offers its audience the opportunity to reflect on the often untold story of the North's role in the slave trade. Dain and Constance Perry, who appear in the film, will be there to help moderate the post-film discussion. Dain Perry served as SCI’s first board chair!

More information on the film can be found here.

Woburn Parent Support Forum

On Wednesday, February 17th at 6PM, the Woburn Parent Network is hosting its next Parent Support Forum. These forums are designed to give resources and support to Woburn parents. We will have a short presentation followed by a moderated discussion where parents will be able to discuss any challenges they are facing, as well as share any parenting tips or resources they may have.

Click here to register for the support forum.

The Woburn Parent Network (WPN) is a collaboration between SCI Woburn, Woburn Public Schools and The James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club. Created by Social Capital Inc., the WPN’s mission is to support local parents by fostering spaces for connections and community building, while also offering relevant programming and resources.

If you would like to take part or wish to be put on our new WPN email list, please email SCI AmeriCorps member Sophie Ichizawa at

Volunteer Needs

With the inclement weather approaching SCI is hoping to match volunteers with seniors for the remainder of the winter.

If you can commit to shoveling out a senior in or near your neighborhood please contact Liandra at and she can match you with a senior in need.

We just need you to make sure their walk is clear, their driveway is clear and any heating or ventilation vents on the outside of their homes are cleared of snow.

If you are interested in volunteering please email Liandra Reyes at or text SHOVEL to (339) 298-7789.

Seeking Translators for WPN Parent Support Forum

The Woburn Parent Network is seeking translators for our next Woburn Parent Support Forum on Wednesday, February 17th.  We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to translate outreach materials and/or who would be willing to help lead the forum.

We are seeking volunteers who speak Spanish and/or Portuguese but are also interested in recruiting volunteers who know French or Hatian Creole.

If you know any of these languages and would be interested in translating for us, please email SCI AmeriCorps member Sophie Ichizawa at
