Relay for Life

From date:

Relay for Life

Woburn will host its 6th Relay for Life, to benefit the American Cancer Society, on May 18-19, 2012.  The event, which begins at 6:00 p.m., is an overnight walk at Library Field.  Relay for Life starts with a survivor lap, an inspirational time for everyone to rally and celebrate the victories we’ve achieved over cancer.  After dark, silence falls and we walk in silence to light of luminaria lanterns to remember loved ones who lost their battles with cancer.  At midnight, Woburnites will participate in a fight back ceremony and will make personal commitments and pledges to save lives.

Relay for Life builds an incredible sense of power and togetherness within our community.  Games, activities, food, raffles and more will all be part of the early evening fun and the general public is encouraged to attend.  Youth sports teams, scout groups, and families are also invited to come and participate as group during the early portion of the event.
