Novel Ideas: Fiction Book Club for Adults

Intertwining the stories of Josephine, a slave in antebellum Virginia, and Lina, a lawyer in contemporary New York, this novel explores issues retribution and justice. Please pick up a copy of the title at the circulation desk. February is Love Your Library month! During this month, please fill out or send the WPL a valentine that says what you love about your library and/or what you would love your library to do, have, be, or become. To participate, please fill out an online valentine here, fill out a printed valentine available at the adult and children’s circulation desks, or mail them a valentine of your own. They will be sharing responses on social media. Keep an eye out for yours!:)

Authors, screenwriters, and artists all have many more options than ever before to tell their tales—what type of storyteller are you?

Matthew Phillion, author of the Indestructibles series of Young Adult superhero novels, will share his experience writing for the genre while going over what sorts of options are available for aspiring writers to create super-stories to help writers learn what opportunities they have and which style might be best for them and how to find the right collaborators to bring their stories to life. Attendees are encouraged to bring samples of their superhero writing with them.

Adult Creative Writing Workshop at Woburn Public Library

Starting at the end of January, the Woburn Public Library will begin hosting a Creative Writing Workshop for adults.

The group will meet on the fourth Saturday of every month, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The group aims will be to foster a love of creative writing and to encourage and support an interest in the written word. Supportive feedback discussions will be facilitated, and pieces will be critiqued, work-shopped and improved via group feedback.
