Woburn Inauguration Ceremony

Tonight the City of Woburn will welcome recently elected officials with its inauguration ceremony. The Ceremony will take place at the Flaherty Auditorium at Woburn Memorial High School located at 88 Montvale Avenue. Those residents that were elected this past fall will be sworn in. The evening will include an inaugural address by Mayor Scott Galvin. In addition to the Mayor being sworn in, the newly elected candidates for City Council and School Committee will also take office.

Due to the snow storm that took place this past week. The Woburn Redevelopment Authority Community Development Meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday January 9th. The Woburn Redevelopment Authority will host a Community Development Meeting at 6:30 pm. The meeting will take place at Woburn City Hall Council Chambers located at 10 Common Street.

Woburn Redevelopment Authority Public Hearing

On Thursday January 2, 2014 the Woburn Redevelopment Authority will host a formal public hearing regarding the Community Development Strategy. In the first meeting, ideas featured included more aid for owners of housing, more senior housing in the downtown area, more parking in the downtown area, the Magazine Hill area at the North end of Woburn Center, traffic in the Four Corners area, and adding traffic solutions on an overall basis.

Day of event update: If you haven't had a chance to buy your Holiday House Tour ticket yet, fear not! You can still purchase tickets and join the fun. Simply go to one of the two "starting houses": Woburn Masonic Hall, 17 Arlington Rd., or The Tidd Home, 74 Elm St., and you can buy your tickets there. These are also the locations to go for your tour book if you've already purchased tickets.

On Sunday December 8, the Woburn Holiday House Tour will be taking place from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. We will have 5 well decorated and festive homes on the tour this year. The house tour is a great way to meet other members within the Woburn community by visiting parts of the city you may not see otherwise. There will be treats, crafts, carolers, and lots of holiday spirit!

Tickets are limited, but still available for purchase either at the Woburn Public Library located at 45 Pleasant Street or Malvy's located at 327 Main Street. You also have the option to purchase your tickets online here. Ticket prices are $25 per person or buy 4 get one free! Be sure to purchase your tickets today. You do not want to miss out on this beloved event!

On Saturday November 30, the 19th Annual Woburn Festival on the Common willl take place from 3 pm until 7 pm. It will take place at Downtown Woburn Square. There will be lots of activities occurring throughout the afternoon such as a, petting zoo, horse drawn hayrides, ice carving demonstrations, food, raffles, local choir groups and carolers singing. At 4 pm Santa Claus will be arriving and at 5:30 pm the Lighting of the Common will begin. Also Mayor Galvin and the Children of Woburn will recite 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.
