Woburn Mutual Aid Network (WMAN)
In times of crisis and uncertainty there is a silver lining to be found. Often, people are awakened to the importance of cooperation and connectivity.
At SCI, we had begun recruiting volunteers interested in helping seniors and others in need of assistance during this time. To that end, we created a Facebook group, Woburn SERV (SCI Engaging Resident Volunteers). https://www.facebook.com/groups/WoburnSERV/ We encourage you to join!
Meanwhile, Woburn Welcomes had begun working toward that same goal of helping each other out by setting up a mutual aid system based on a template used in other communities. They reached out to SCI, and we are now working together along with the James L. McKeown Boys & Girls Club, the North Suburban YMCA, the Council of Social Concern and the Woburn Public Library.
These organizations along with many other city officials and community members are collaborating in an unprecedented attempt to unite the city of Woburn and its citizens around a common goal. We are all in this together and together we can help make the best of this often scary and uncertain time.
If you are interested in getting involved in assisting the community please reach. There is a lot in the works including a form that will allow community members to indicate what their needs are and a form for members to agree to meet said needs. This is a work in progress and we are all in uncharted territory. Stay safe out there!
