The mission of SCI Woburn is to strengthen the community by connecting diverse individuals and organizations through civic engagement initiatives. The SCI Woburn website serves as a community resource connecting residents to volunteer opportunities, community events and resources.

Congratulations to the Mini-Grant Award recipients for taking the first steps to improve the Woburn community. On the behalf of Social Capital Inc (SCI), CHNA and the Woburn Youth Council I commend you for being active citizens in your community.

Civic engagement is the cornerstone of building healthy communities. All of the award recipients for 2008 have explicitly answered the needs of the Woburn residents. More importantly, you are encouraged to identify a need and apply for the Mini-Grant Award coming in 2008-2009. We encourage you to remain cognizant of the needs in your community so we can collectively keep the Mini-Grant legacy alive.

Please contact me for more information or volunteer opportunities.

The Mini-Grants are made possible by the Northwest Suburban Health Alliance/CHNA 15 DoN funds from Lahey Clinic.

At our next CoffeeHouse we will have as our featured perfomer, Pete Crowley and the Mirror Neurons.

Pete CrowleyA year ago, Pete Crowley was at an open mic and was urged to play. After not having played before an audience in at least five years, since his days as Serendipity frontman, he was finally convinced. Soon after he began playing at venues throughout the region. Recently the "Mirror Neurons" have been added to his sound, creating an organic fullness. Influenced by everything from bebop to Pantera to Howlin Wolf to Leonard Cohen, Pete Crowley and the Mirror Neurons' sound is innovative digestion and amalgamation of their panoply of influences.
