WorldFest 2021 Kicks Off with Website Launch, Book Drive and More!

WorldFest 2021 hosted by Social Capital Inc. in partnership with the YMCA International Learning Center kicked off on May 1st with the WorldFest Website! This is a month-long event throughout May to celebrate cultural diversity in our community. Check out the website to find local restaurants, artists, and live events. We are also hoping to share submissions from community members, including international recipes and community voices sharing cultural heritage.

The website also has a suggested list of culturally diverse books to donate to the Woburn libraries for the WorldFest Book Drive. Boxes to drop off the books will be placed inside the front door of Woburn Public Library. Once a week one of the books will be featured on the SCI Woburn facebook page, with a short description and a suggestion of where to buy the book!

Furthermore, there will also be a Youth Art Showcase for elementary, middle and high school students. Students will be asked to create a piece of art that speaks to their ethnic culture or heritage. Based on grade level, names of students who submit artwork will be eligible to win gift cards through a random drawing! Youth artwork will be displayed on the WorldFest website as submissions are received. They will also be featured on SCI’s social media sites. The submission deadline is Monday, May 24th, 2021. Find out more information on the WorldFest website.
